Carbide Shanks

Iscar’s new family of FLEXFIT carbide shanks expands the application range of the company’s tools. The design increases rigidity, which reduces vibrations, especially in long-overhang machining applications.

Because of the shanks’ strength and rigid structure, they enable higher milling parameters to be used and create better surface finishes when compared with the use of steel shanks, the company states.

The shanks are available in M08, M10, M12, and M16 thread sizes, each with three length options. According to the company, these shanks will reduce the need for special tools and help reduce tool stock.

Suitable for both roughing and finishing applications, the shanks feature ground necks for high accuracy and balancing, in addition to internal coolant holes that aid efficient chip evacuation. According to the company, the shanks enable stable milling and increase productivity, even under unstable cutting conditions. In addition, they also reduce noise during machining.
