Hwacheon Machinery offers its VT- 950/1150 series of CNC vertical lathes with 43.3- and 53-in. swing over the bed, cutting diameters to 52 in., and chuck sizes from 24 to 40 in.
Hand-scraped and polished guideways in all axes and a rigid, onepiece machine bed design help the machine absorb vibration and provide optimum stability, especially in hard turning applications.
It has a rapid feed rate (X/Z) of 944 IPM. A 12-station (24 optional), servo- type tool turret carries tools up to 2.5 in. dia. with indexing time of 0.2 sec., helping reduce cycle time.
These machines can be shipped with a turn/mill option.
The geared drive system allows for high-torque turning at low speed and also high-speed turning. The transmission and the spindle motor are designed separately so that the heat and vibration generated from the transmission don’t interfere with the spindle motor. For the VT-1150, maximum spindle speed is 630 RPM generated by a 73.5-HP motor. The VT-950 achieves 1,125 RPM with a 40-HP drive.
