Digital Readout

Newall has introduced the DP500 mill and lathe DRO packages for the turret mill and toolroom lathe market.

This digital readout’s features include absolute and incremental readings, radius/diameter readings, error compensation, and inch/metric instant conversion. The unit also has a tool offset library that compensates for different tools’ lengths for turning operations. The offsets can be manually programmed or they can be entered on-the-fly.

For milling applications, the readout includes a bolt hole circle routine. When the data is entered via the message prompts, the readout calculates the coordinates of each hole within the circle, saving the operator time.

The readout is available in two or three axes for turret mills with travels up to 16 by 36 in., and for 2-axis lathes with up to 80 in. between centers.

Both packages come with the new Spherosyn LT or Microsyn LT encoders. These encoders feature the same inductive technology and IP67 rating as the company’s Spherosyn 2G encoders and provide accurate and dependable readings under the harshest environmental conditions, the company states.
