LENOX Celebrates a Century of Manufacturing Cutting Tools

LENOX®, East Longmeadow, Mass., is celebrating 100 years of cutting tool production. Founded in 1915 as LENOX American Saw, the company manufactured hacksaw blades with a 10-employee team. Today over 900 people produce a variety of blades for hacksaws, reciprocating saws, band saws, hole saws, and circular saws that are marketed in over 70 countries.

Company history claims firsts within the industry, including manufacturing the first American-made bimetal band saw blade in 1965, the first bimetal reciprocating saw blades in 1977, and the first AlTiN-coated band saw blade in 2005. In 1996 it was the first U.S. saw blade manufacturer to achieve ISO certification.

New products in 2015 include:

  • Gold® Power Arc Curved reciprocating saw blades reported to double blade life
  • CAST MASTER™ XL carbide band saw blades that enhance highspeed aluminum cutting
  • CircTech™ Precision CM200 cermet- tipped circular saw blades for cutting high-alloy and tool steels

A number of promotional activities with distributor partners and end users and a centennial celebration at its 600,000-sq.-ft. headquarters in East Longmeadow for employees and customers are scheduled throughout the year to celebrate the anniversary.
