Joint Open House Showcases Latest Technology

Sourcing new shop floor equipment can be a daunting task. But thanks to the efforts of five Ontario-based machine tool distributors, this process can be a little more streamlined. This year’s joint open house takes place April 9 and 10 and runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

A spring tradition since 2006, the event is sponsored by machine tool distributors based in Mississauga and Oakville, Ont. The participants are DMG Mori Seiki Ellison Technologies Canada, Elliott Matsuura Canada, EMEC Machine Tools, Ferro Technique, and Single Source Technologies (SST) Canada. The event gives customers the opportunity to see the latest technology available from all five companies.

“This event really is about celebrating the relationships that we have with our customers,” said Brian Donnelly, vice president of Ferro Technique. “It gives all of us a chance to get together and talk with the end users of our equipment in a comfortable, informal setting. Our customers can see some new machines, have lunch, and get any questions they may have answered.”

In addition to the machine tools on display from 19 builders, auxiliary equipment and tooling suppliers will be on hand at all locations to answer questions on topics such as machine tool accessories, software, and consumables.

This year any customer that visits all five locations will receive eight hours of free machine service from one of the visited distributors.

“In the years that we have been doing this event, we have learned that the free service is both useful and appreciated, so we are continuing to offer it to the companies that visit all of the locations,” said Donnelly.

The distributors will provide transportation to and from all the locations, and light meals and refreshments will be available throughout the day.
