Royal Products will showcase its Rota-Rack parts accumulator, which enables any bar-fed CNC lathe to run unattended for extended periods of time, at IMTS 2022. The unit indexes each time a finished part exits the machine, collecting and protecting finished workpieces. It also helps combat the ongoing manufacturing labour shortage by increasing shop throughput and enabling unattended production via simple automation.
The accumulator comprises a heavy-duty welded steel turntable, solid-state PLC, and optional integrated conveyor. All contact surfaces are covered with a high-lubricity UHMW plastic for protection of external part features such as threads and milled edges. A 36-in.-dia. turntable provides more than 850 sq. in. of usable surface and has a payload capacity of 700 lbs.
This device enables shops to run a second or third shift with existing equipment and no additional employees. In addition to increasing throughput, it aids in quality control by keeping finished parts in sequential order for inspection purposes.
