CTMA hosting virtual cutting tool event

The Canadian Tooling & Machining Assoc. (CTMA), Cambridge, Ont., is hosting the "Virtual Vibes Cutting Tool Tradeshow: Getting the most out of your cutting tools," on May 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“This is a new type of event for the CTMA as we continue to find new ways to bring value to our members and provide information that is relevant and needed,” said Robert Cattle, executive director, CTMA.

A one-time registration gives online participants access to six presentations from cutting tool manufacturers and distributors. Each presentation, which will be followed by a Q&A session, is approximately 20 minutes long.

9:30 a.m. (Dormer Pramet)
Application Specialist Matthew Haid will introduce some of his company’s best high-performance tooling.

10 a.m. (Greenfield Industries)
Tim Griebno, technical support specialist, will discuss the necessary techniques to incorporate high-performance milling tools into your process.

10:25 a.m. (Horn USA)
Speaker Jim Garfield, regional sales manager for Canada, will explain how to effectively deal with made-to-order tooling.

10:50 a.m. (Iscar Tools)
Jeff Stoesser, application coordinator, will talk about his company’s Full Process Proposal Program, a service that focuses on increasing efficiency and decreasing cycle time.

11:15 a.m. (OSG Canada)
Alyssa O'Brien, product engineer will present a technical, but easy-to-follow discussion on thread milling.

11:50 a.m. (Sandvik Coromant)
Product and Industry Team Lead and Turning Specialist, Kevin Burton will discuss how to gain an edge in productive steel turning.

“We envisioned this virtual event as something our members could go ‘in and out of,’ depending on their availability and interest. We feel this is the next best thing to a real tradeshow, where attendees can interact and express their interest to the exhibitors—only virtually,” said Cattle. “We are eager to see the response to this event and are looking forward to the presentations from all six companies! If all goes well, there may be more topics of interest presented in the virtual tradeshow style!”

This is a free event for CTMA members. Non-members can register for $25 at www.ctma.com.
