Optimate cloud-based app offers sheet metal part feasibility check, optimization

Optimate, a TRUMPF startup, offers a cloud-based web app for analyzing and optimizing sheet metal parts. It digitizes the sheet metal knowledge of experienced sheet metal specialists.
Analyzing parts with the app includes part optimization and a feasibility check. First, the user uploads the sheet metal part in STEP or SolidWorks format in the cloud-based web app. Multiple 3D CAD files can be uploaded and analyzed simultaneously. Structural steel, stainless steel, and aluminum can be selected as material options. The app recognizes the optimization potential within seconds and indicates any design errors.
At the same time, a feasibility check runs in the background to ensure that each part also can be manufactured in a process-safe manner. If this is not the case, the corresponding areas on the part are marked in color as warnings. While deformations often affect the part’s appearance, most warnings issues prevent the worker in production from being able to manufacture the part at all.
