The Royal Canadian Mint has ordered two minting presses from Schuler for its production facility in Winnipeg. The two MRV 150 lines will be put into operation this year to mint the country’s $2 coin.
One press replaces an older model and will boost output to 750 SPM from 200 SPM. The second press will expand current production levels.
These minting presses have a vertical design for the production of all kinds of circulating coins—including round and multisided bimetal coins. The rings and cores are fed separately and subsequently joined and minted in a single operation. They each have a press force of 1,500 kN.
