ABB has launched the SWIFTI CRB 1300 industrial collaborative robot for handling loads up to 11 kg in applications from machine tending and palletizing to pick-and-place and screwdriving. With a top speed of 6.2 m/sec., the cobot is up to six times faster than other robots in its class, the company reports.
A safety laser scanner integrated with the company’s SafeMove collaborative safety software helps keep the operator safe without the need for protective fencing or other physical barriers. If the laser scanner detects a worker within the cobot’s operating area, the software automatically slows the robot or stops it completely. As the worker moves away, movement is restored, and the cobot returns to full speed when the working area is completely clear.
