Mate’s One-Hit-Hinge tool reduces hits, increases form size

The One-Hit-Hinge tool from Mate Precision Technologies forms two sections of a curl on two separate knuckles, creating a closed circle. When assembled with mating forms, the pin is held in place by 360-degree contact.
Since the tool does not have to be formed straight up and curled down, the hinge diameter can be larger and will not interfere with the machine gap. This reduces the number of tool hits, increases form size, and reduces part cost compared to traditional methods, the company states.
Designed for hinge applications such as metal enclosures, access panels, metal cases, and electronic cabinets, the tool eliminates the need for separate hinges, spot welds, fasteners, or other downstream assembly operations.
It’s suitable for use with mild steel and aluminum from 0.030 to 0.080 in. thick, as well as stainless steel in specific applications.
