Miller Electric Mfg. Co. has introduced the new Big Blue® 800 Duo Pro welding machine/generator with FieldPro™ Smart Feeder compatibility for field welding applications. The multiprocess system can run conventional SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and GMAW, as well as advanced Regulated Metal Deposition (RMD®) and pulsed GMAW processes with the addition of the feeder. According to the manufacturer, these processes help to reduce weld failures and can eliminate backing gas on some stainless and chrome-moly pipe welding applications.
The feeder gives complete control to the welding operator at the joint. The need to travel to and from the power source is eliminated, which helps limit job site movement to improve safety.
The feeder delivers RMD and pulsed GMAW up to 200 ft. away from the power source. Controls are labeled in common welding terminology.
This multioperator work platform delivers two arcs, up to 400 amps each, allowing welding operators to work independently of one another with no arc interaction. With combined outputs of 800 amps, the engine drive provides enough power for a single welding operator to run large stick electrodes, stud weld, or carbon arc gouge with large electrodes.
