Small-footprint Arc Welding Robot

The Integrated Dress (ID) pack model has been added to ABB Robotics’ IRB 2600 range of midsized robots. This IRB 2600ID has a 2-m reach, 8-kg payload, and features a flexible conduit in its upper arm/wrist for routing cables and hoses.

According to the manufacturer, this integrated design reduces cycle time by 15 percent, lowers operational costs, and simplifies programming.

With the internally routed dress pack, the movement of hoses and cables is completely predictable, allowing the robot to operate at maximum speeds and simplifying offline programming.  Because there is no need to account for swinging cables when simulating robot systems, the time required for fine-tuning programs is minimized by up to 90 percent, enabling faster transitions from weld to weld. This design also reduces the exposure of cables and hoses to weld splatter and other sources of overall wear.

The footprint has a swing base radius of 337 mm and a base width of 511 mm.

The robot is available with the company’s IRC5 robot controller.
