The JIS line of taps from Emuge Corp. was developed for companies manufacturing products that have Japanese-specified standards. It includes both taps and cold-forming taps.
Shank diameter and square dimensions are in accordance with Japanese standards, and all taps are designed to produce threads with a JIS Class 2 tolerance.
The line includes a variety of geometries and styles that will produce threads in a range of materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nonferrous materials, titanium alloys, nickel, nickel-based alloys, and cobalt-based alloys.
The surface of the taps are treated with a titanium carbonitride or titanium nitride coating for increased tool life. For chip evacuation and lubrication, the taps are available with an internal coolant-lubricant supply that can exit through the tap or the flutes.
Taps are offered in designs for both short-chipping and long-chipping material. The cold-forming taps are for the chipless production of internal threads in blind- or through-holes.
The taps are optimized for use on automatic lathes, multispindle machines, and CNC machines.
Sizes from M 5 x0.8 to M 12 x 1.75 in metric coarse and from M 10 x 1.25 to M 20 x 1.5 in metric fine, straight-flute, spiral-point, slow- and fast-spiral flute configurations are available.
