Heavy-duty Turning

February 1, 2010

SUMOTURN

The recently introduced SUMO TEC carbide grades enable turning tool users to cope better with heavy-duty turning, according to Iscar Tools.

These new tools expand the company’s range of tools for rough turning applications. The HELITURN LD family consists of WNMX, CNMX, and DNMX inserts and was designed for heavy machining applications. The helical cutting edge ensures a smooth cut with less power consumption and reliable fast metal removal (FMR).

The company also has developed the SUMOTURN (shown here) lineup for heavy-duty turning tools and inserts, as a result of increased turning production volumes.  Industries such as power generation that machine large workpieces with high metal removal rates demand new chip breakers for larger depths of cut and higher feed rates.
