Mazak will demonstrate 21 machine tools cutting parts for industries that include aerospace, automotive, energy, and medical, including the new Horizontal Center Universal machines.

Suitable for job shops, the new Horizontal Center Universal 4000 machining center features a 15.75-in. square pallet and can produce parts up to 25 in. in diameter and 35 in. high. The machine also meets various production requirements through a variety of options, including 12,000- and 20,000-RPM spindle speeds; 40-, 80-, and 120-tool magazines; and either an NC-positioning or NC-rotary table.

Designed with high-volume, lowmix shops in mind, the new Horizontal Center Universal 5000 machining center features a 19.69-in. square pallet and meets a variety of different production requirements through its various options, including 12,000- and 20,000-RPM spindle speeds; 40-, 80-, and 120-tool magazines; and either an NC-positioning or NC-rotary table.

The MTConnect open-source, royalty- free manufacturing protocol will also be displayed. Visitors can learn the basics of MTConnect and how it exists to set the standard communication method for retrieving data from manufacturing equipment. And using its Kentucky factory as an example, the company will show real-time monitoring of its manufacturing operations using the open communications protocol inside its booth.
