Featured at FABTECH 2014: Adaptive Laser Cutting

Featured at Fabtech

LVD has announced that adaptive laser cutting (ALC) will be installed as a standard feature on all Sirius and Sirius Plus 4-kW lasers. The technology optimizes laser cutting results automatically in thicker mild steel materials. ALC uses dynamic feedback to monitor and regulate laser power, speed, and assist gas pressure in real time during the cutting process, automatically optimizing cutting parameters to help ensure a consistently accurate cut, high productivity, and reduced scrap, says the company.

ALC does not rely on predefined parameters, but measures and adapts in-process to improve cutting results. It is suitable for processing thick materials in an unattended environment. The technology automatically adjusts to changing conditions, processing at the highest speed with the most efficiency, to help alleviate the need to restrict or control the laser cutting system. According to the manufacturer, this provides up to a 10 percent increase in productivity.
