Saw/Drill Unit Designed for Railroad Industry

rail saw cut

Advanced Machine & Engineering Co. (AME), Rockford, Ill., now offers the Amsaw R-series saw for the cutting of rails.

The combined saw and drill unit was designed to improve efficiency and productivity in the high-production cutting of alloy rails. The rail saw has hardened spindle gears ground for minimal backlash and a saw blade guide and dampening device for blade stabilization.

An overload device monitors cutting performance and stops the saw feed when necessary. The welded machine base is ribbed and braced to provide maximum rigidity, and a conveyor moves chips to the rear of the machine for deposit in a tote box.

This machine can be combined with an integrated or inline rail hole drill machine for bolted joints at the rail ends or with infeed and outfeed material handling systems.

Saw blades can be changed in less than three minutes, and no coolant is needed when cutting with this saw.
