Late last year Mori Seiki released the NT6600 DCG®, an integrated mill/turn center that is suitable for machining large parts and long workpieces for the aerospace and oil and natural gas industries because of its long Y-axis travel.
This machine is also equipped with a new automatic tool changer that reduces tool change time to less than 10 seconds from any position on the spindle.
Constructed with a footprint of 33.1 by 14.9 by 14.7 ft., this multitasking machine exceeds the machine structure of previous NT series models with a 19.93-ft. maximum turning length and a 3.51-ft. maximum turning diameter.
Mori Seiki has also incorporated DDM™ (Direct Drive Motors), designed to eliminate backlash and enable high-speed rotation, as well as ORC™ (Octagonal Ram Construction) to ensure symmetrical heat expansion and maintain consistent center positioning. Additionally, this machine features the box-in-box construction of the NH series horizontal machining centers and the turret with built-in milling motor from the NL series of CNC lathes.
