The Cublex-25 is a five-axis, complex machining center that Matsuura, as a specialized manufacturer of machining centers, has developed to address the issue of process integration.
In this machining center turning and grinding functions are combined with five-axis milling functions. According to the manufacturer, this machine maintains 100 percent milling performance. With expandable ATC and APC options and the extensive process integration capabilities of the machine, high-speed, high-accuracy machining is possible, together with extended unmanned operation.
For turning operations, a mechanism is used to lock the spindle with a rotary table (C axis) that is capable of 3,000-RPM rotation. The rotary table’s direct-drive motor is specially developed for the rotation required for turning, while maintaining the precision-positioning capability required for milling.
Additionally, grinding operations are possible through the simultaneous rotation of the spindle and rotary table.
Matsuura launched the Cublex-42 during IMTS 2008, and the Cublex-63 will be launched during EMO 2009, completing the full range of mill/turn/grind five-axis centers.
