FEMCO Inc. has introduced the HL-55/200 lathe for heavy cutting on large workpieces.
The solid wraparound boxway construction is designed for heavy-duty, precision turning of large workpieces, and all mating surfaces are lined with TurciteĀ®, which provides excellent wear and slip stick characteristics, according to the company.
The lathe features a two-speed ZF gearbox for maximum metal removal at lower spindle speeds, and the rigid, 45-degree slant bed construction combined with precision components helps to ensure consistently high accuracies and excellent finishes, the company reports.
The main spindle is equipped with a 15-in. chuck and can be equipped with an optional 18-in. or 21-in.-diameter chuck. A 35-HP Fanuc motor with a maximum spindle speed of 2,500 RPM powers the spindle. The maximum turning diameter is 24.21 in.; an extended turning length of 71.65 in. is for longer workpieces.
The 12-station turret uses bidirectional positioning for faster indexing times, and standard accessories include a chip conveyor and a programmable tailstock.
