DMG’s new series of turning/milling machines includes the CTX beta TC and CTX gamma TC, which can handle turning lengths from 49.2 to 78.7 in., turning diameters up to 24.8 in., and a bar capacity up to 3.0 in. diameter.
The tool changer, or TC as designated in these machines, is an integrated disk magazine that holds 24 tools on the CTX beta TC or 36 tools on the CTX gamma TC.
The NC B axis swivels in the range of ±100 degrees, and according to the company, is the key to complete five-axis, simultaneous milling. The main and counterspindles have rotational speeds of 12,000 RPM or optional 18,000 RPM, respectively.
The machines are equipped with either a Siemens 840D CNC system or a HEIDENHAIN PLUS iT system.
