Manufacturers Gear up for IMTS

The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2014, Sept. 8-13, takes place once again at Chicago’s McCormick Place.

A highlight of this year’s show is daily conference sessions for manufacturing professionals.

“The IMTS community has made it clear that educational events for professionals already in the industry are essential as manufacturing moves ahead,” said Peter R. Eelman, vice president—exhibitions and communications for The Association For Manufacturing Technology (AMT). “Those who take advantage of the IMTS 2014 Conference stand to gain an edge by keeping up with trends, evaluating new product developments, and absorbing technical know-how from the industry’s thought leaders.”

This year marks the 30th anniversary of what has become the premier manufacturing technology show in North America. More than 1,900 exhibitors will occupy 1,240,863 net sq. ft. of exhibit space, and the show will attract more than 100,000 buyers and sellers from more than 100 countries.

To help guide attendees to booths quickly and easily, the show is organized into pavilions that are geared toward specific industries and technologies. More than 15,000 new machine tools, controls, computers, software, components, systems, and processes for improving efficiency will be shown in these pavilions:

  • Metal Cutting. This area contains chipping machines, including lathes and machining centers, assembly automation, and flexible manufacturing systems.
  • Tooling and Workholding. This pavilion features jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, and all related accessories.
  • Metal Forming and Fabricating/Laser. This area is home to waterjet, plasma, and laser systems; welding equipment; and heat treating.

Other pavilions include Abrasive Machining/Sawing/Finishing; Controls and CAD/CAM; EDM; Gear Generation; Industrial Automation North America; Machine Components/Cleaning/Environmental; and Quality Assurance.
