Prima Electro, Yaskawa Form CNC Partnership

August 17, 2012

Prima Electro S.p.A. and Yaskawa Europe GmbH have signed a strategic partnership agreement for the CNC market. Prima has chosen Yaskawa's Sigma-5 SD drives and motors to implement on its new Osai OPENcontrol CNC software and hardware components. The products will be connected through Mechatrolink III fieldbus.

Under this agreement, Yaskawa will make its products available to Prima Electro for Prima's integration and resale, while the two companies join forces in the after-sales service. The agreement is expected to be extended to other subsidiaries in the coming months on a global basis.

"With the new OPENcontrol platform, Yaskawa and Prima Electro can offer an optimized package for CNC applications. Due to this cooperation, customers will benefit by the synergies due to combining the knowledge of a strong, specialized CNC manufacturer and a market leader in the drives and motion area," said Ralph Klein, Yaskawa executive officer—drives and motion division.
