Okuma America Corp., Charlotte, N.C., has announced that current President Larry Schwartz has moved to the position of chief strategy officer, and Jim King has been promoted to the position of president and COO. King joined Okuma in January 2010 as senior vice president of sales.

“Jim rapidly came up-to-speed in understanding the company and its employees, our mission, vision, and commitment to our customers, distributors, and partners,” said Schwartz. “He has forged strong and lasting relationships within the industry, has earned the respect required to guide our company into the future.  We are pleased and honored to have him has our new leader.”

In his new role as chief strategy officer, Schwartz will work closely with King and the entire leadership team.

“Under Larry’s leadership, Okuma America Corp. has become a driving force and leader in the machine tool and CNC control world,” said King. “His vision of an open-architecture machine tool control became reality, and his desire to serve as a solution provider to manufacturers established the Partners in THINC program.  I look forward to taking the reins and welcome his continued insight and support.”
