Westway Machinery, Mississauga, Ont., has been named the exclusive representative for Safan press brakes and shears in the Canadian market.
The Safan line includes E-Brake all-electric press brakes and hydraulic H-Brakes. In 1980 the company built its first servo-hydraulic press brake, and in 1995 its first servo-mechanical press brake.
The electric press brake uses a unique, patented system of servo drives and pulleys that can increase productivity by as much as 30 percent, reports the manufacturer. Since the motors run only during the cycle when needed, they can use up to 50 percent less energy than a standard hydraulic brake.
Also, because hydraulic valves, cylinders, seals, and filters have been eliminated, maintenance and downtime are reduced.
The E-Brake will be one of the machines on display and running under power for demonstrations at the distributor's open house event, to be held May 17 and 18.
Also being shown are a Flow waterjet, Timesavers metal finishing machine, Vicon high-definition plasma cutter, Baykal press brake and shear, Fabmaster ironworker, and Seyi stamping press.
In addition, technical seminars will be presented on electronic press brake technology, waterjet cutting, metal finishing, and highdefinition plasma cutting.
