FARO Celebrates 30 Years With Custom Chopper

FARO Technologies, Lake Mary, Fla., a manufacturer of portable measurement and imaging systems, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. The company commemorated the milestone by having a custom motorcycle built by Paul Jr. Designs, which will be featured on Discovery Channel's "American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior."

The company's FaroArm was used during the fabrication of the bike. Some elements such as the gas tank, seat pan, and primary cover have intricate shapes and contours that are difficult to capture or re-create by hand.

The portable measuring device digitally captures the exact shape and placement of components, virtually eliminating the need to trace and create cardboard templates during fabrication, the company says.
