TRUMPF Canada, Mississauga, Ont., will hold a laser workshop on March 30 at its Canadian office.
The workshop, called a “Face-Off” open house event, will focus on the cutting differences between 2-D laser machines with new fiber-style resonators and traditional CO2 gas resonators.
“The biggest question in the 2-D laser cutting market right now is: fiber or gas? Customers want to know which type suits their specific application better,” said Managing Director of TRUMPF Canada James Rogowski. “Here, on March 30, we will be able to look closely at both types, cut with both, and see the results of both.”
TRUMPF Canada will pitch two TruLaser 1030 machines against each other in a “competition” for the event. One machine will have a traditional, 2,500-W, CO2 gas resonator, and the other will have a 2,000-W, fiber-delivered resonator.
The machines are identical other than the resonators, so differences are easily quantifiable.
Customers who attend the event will see firsthand the mechanical differences, the costs associated with both, and the cutting quality that can be achieved with these resonators. A series of test cuts will be timed by a stopwatch and then scrutinized by the crowd for quality.
“The event will provide answers to those who want to know what a fiber laser is and how it compares to traditional gas lasers,” said Rogowski.
Presentations during the event will include additional information on laser cutting differences. Also planned are live demonstrations of laser marking with a TruMark 6030; sheet metal cutting with TruTool power tools; and a ceremony to introduce the new technical services available for TruLaser, TruPunch, and TruBend machines in Canada.
