Sandvik Coromant, Mississauga, Ont., and Thomas Skinner & Son, Richmond, B.C., recently presented a milling event.
“Our goal of this 90-minute presentation was to reinforce the need to keep upgrading techniques and skills to compete in Canada and offshore in the modern metal cutting environment,” said Jerry Brown, regional business manager for Sandvik.
This event was based on advanced milling techniques that improve tool life and part quality and increase “green-light” time. The demonstration was done on a 2-in. by 2-in. by 6-in. steel plate of 4140 material, machined with optimal cutting data and toolpaths that showed the range and capabilities of modern cutting tools.
“Our customers will greatly benefit from what they have learned today,” said Dave Fawcett, Thomas Skinner sales manager. “We look forward to working with Sandvik to provide future seminars that will help our customers cut costs and increase productivity.”
