Featured at FABTECH 2014: Hybrid Press Brake

Salvagnini America Inc. offers the new B3 hybrid press brake. Combining direct-drive electric motors for speed and new hydraulics for power, the machine helps reduce cycle times while providing an exemplary, repeatable level of accuracy, according to the manufacturer.

The press brake uses a kinetic energy recovery system to reduce consumption by recovering and reusing energy expended on the downstroke. This is the same advanced technology pioneered for use in Formula 1 race cars, says the company.

The proprietary angle measurement system (AMS) measures the bent angle in real time and reports results to the machine’s control module. This noncontact system works with any standard tool set and is suitable for small batches (one to two pieces) using different programs or materials.

Available with automatic tool adjustment that allows quick tool length adjustment in masked time, the press brake eliminates manual setups and facilitates single-piece part flow.
